BQA recertification

Winter is meeting season. If your BQA certification is expiring, attending a meeting is one option to get recertified. Producers have options for recertification.

  • Attend an educational meeting (45 minutes or more) on a topic related to BQA, such as behavior, proper handling, biosecurity, herd health, or nutrition. Other options include attending an in-person or online BQA Training (bqa.org).
  • Individual consultation with your vet covering antibiotic use, drug residues, injections, herd health plan, or other topic at discretion of the herd vet. The vet must fill out information on bottom of the VCPR form and sign. NYSCHAP participants: Yearly review with state and local vets is acceptable.

Remember for Level II recertification, a Veterinary Client Patient Relationship (VCPR) form is required and can be found on the NY Beef Council website. If the farm veterinarian has one specific to their practice, then use that one. Once completed return to the NYBC office (address below). A producer who becomes Level II Certified will receive a wallet card.
